About The Position

Provides oversight of resident engagement needs related to physical, social, emotional, mental, and religious/spiritual well-being. Plans, conducts, and evaluates activities to meet the individual interests, abilities, and preferences of residents. Establishes relationships with residents and families to better address their individual needs. Develops and maintains a monthly activity calendar and ensures it is accessible to residents. Coordinates with all departments to ensure awareness of scheduled events, assigned roles, and responsibilities. Ensures activities are appropriate to the resident population and level of independence and interest. Ensures acknowledgment and appreciation of volunteers through thank-you notes or letters. Knowledgeable in office procedures and well organized. Maintains a neat and professional appearance; closed-toe shoes are required. Demonstrates basic computer skills for scheduling, documentation, and communication. Be of acceptable physical and mental health to carry out assigned duties. Must possess mature judgment skills and be able to respond to emergency situations. Attendance is required during inclement weather. Follows infection control policies & procedures. Follows all policies & procedures of Runk and Pratt. Maintains appropriate & respectful conduct within the workplace. Provides support in any area that may arise that is above and beyond the normal expectations for this position.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A minimum of 6 months experience in healthcare or related field director, coordinating or planning events
  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • Complete annual in-service training as required
  • State Police background check that is free from barrier offenses
  • A current Tuberculosis screening on or within 7 days prior to the first day of employment and free from Tuberculosis
  • The ability to meet physical requirements for position
  • The ability to pass a drug test
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. without limitations using proper body mechanics
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Able to position self to assist residents with their needs
  • Able to pull, push wheelchairs, kneel, transfer residents and other physical movements to meet physical needs of residents in a fast paced environment
  • Able to tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals

Responsibilities

  • Provides and schedules resources for physical activities
  • Recruits, trains, supervises, and schedules volunteers in accordance with facility policy
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff, residents, families, and community partners
  • Develops an activity schedule in compliance with VDSS activity requirements
  • Plans, conducts, and evaluates activities to meet the individual interests, abilities, and preferences of resident
