About The Position

The Activities Director at West Park Care Center is responsible for developing and directing the Activities department's programs and events. This role ensures that activities are provided for all residents, regardless of their mobility, and that detailed records of participation and progress towards care plan goals are maintained. The position also involves managing departmental scheduling and staffing, publishing a monthly calendar of events, and developing an active volunteer program. Additionally, the Activities Director addresses resident concerns, ensures resident rights are upheld, and fosters positive relationships with residents, families, and staff. This role also includes quality assurance, compliance, budget management, and employee performance and development.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and directs the Activities department programs and events.
  • Manages activities functions for ambulatory, non-ambulatory, and bed-bound residents.
  • Maintains detailed records of activity programs and individual resident participation, identifying progress toward care plan goals.
  • Determines departmental scheduling and staffing requirements based on census and labor budget.
  • Ensures monthly calendars of events and/or newsletters are published and distributed.
  • Develops and maintains an active volunteer program.
  • Listens to and responds to resident concerns, complaints, suggestions, questions, and comments.
  • Analyzes and reports results of resident satisfaction surveys.
  • Develops, communicates, and follows through with necessary action plans.
  • Assures that residents’ personal and private property rights are followed by activities staff.
  • Interacts with residents to ensure quality care and positive resident/staff relations.
  • Maintains open and trust-building relationships with resident family members, responding professionally and promptly to requests or concerns.
  • Inspects work areas and equipment at least weekly for proper order and operation.
  • Participates in patient/resident care planning by identifying activity needs and coordinating with the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Reviews, develops, and implements a plan of correction for activities concerns/deficiencies noted in resident and family surveys.
  • Helps develop, analyze, and proactively manages budget and expenses to achieve optimal profitability.
  • Partners with others to understand and balance their own team’s or department’s objectives.
  • Maintains effective employee relations and engagement to achieve business objectives and positive morale.
  • Assists with development and facilitates communication plans and information sharing to all management and employees.
  • Maintains regular meetings with key management and project teams to review status, issues, and innovations.
  • Uses appropriate strategies, processes, tools, and sources to engage and motivate employees.
  • Displays ability to bring others together for a common purpose and objective in a positive manner to achieve desired results.
