About The Position

Residents shall be encouraged to maintain and develop their fullest potential for independent living through participation in activity and recreational programs. The Activities Director will assist and work with volunteers, involve C.N.A.'s in assisting with group activities, and maintain an inventory of needed supplies for a variety of different activities. A monthly activity calendar with a wide variety of enjoyable activities for the residents will be created. Daily activity and attendance charting on each resident will be completed, and the monthly activity calendar will be followed on scheduled workdays. Activities will be offered to each resident as identified on the resident service plan. A scrapbook and Facebook page of facility happenings and activities will be maintained. Participation in required monthly In-Services and weekly department head meetings is expected. The activity room must be left clean and orderly at the end of the shift. A good working relationship with all customers, including residents, family members, community, vendors, and staff, must be maintained. The Activities Director may be asked to work different days or hours for special activities/events requiring more assistance. 1:1 visits/interaction with residents not attending group activities will be provided, and assistance with decorating the building for holidays will be offered. Gossip is not to be participated in, and professional conduct is expected. Other duties as assigned by Administration.

Requirements

  • Must be 17 years or older.
  • Must be in good health and properly immunized against infectious diseases, including measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus and diphtheria.
  • Must provide written proof of recent TB test or obtain within two weeks of date of hire.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have current Food Handlers Permit or obtain within two weeks.
  • Must be positive and encouraging and have the ability to motivate residents to participate in activities.
  • Has ability to do occasional heavy lifting of residents (up to 40 lbs.).

  • Ensure that the activity room is left clean and orderly at the end of their shift.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all customers; including residents, family members, community, vendors and staff.
  • Provide 1:1 visits/interaction with residents that are not attending group activities.
  • Assist with decorating the building for holidays.
  • Not participate in gossip of any kind.
  • Conduct self professionally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Administration.
