About The Position

Responsible for assisting in planning, scheduling and conducting programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities for the residents. This role involves assisting, inviting, and encouraging residents to participate in activities, assessing, planning, and managing the facilitation of a comprehensive activities program utilizing team members and volunteers. The coordinator will also attend community planned functions, coordinate events from beginning to end, and help plan appropriate programs for holidays and special events. Additionally, they will coordinate holiday decorations, collaborate with other departments for necessary equipment and supplies, and plan/coordinate mixed groups. Maintaining activity areas, assisting with inventory, and overseeing the daily care of animals and plants within the program are also key responsibilities. The role includes preparing and organizing a calendar of events, distributing the community newsletter, meeting new residents, assisting the Director with the wellness program, working with volunteers, addressing resident groups, and documenting resident participation. Maintaining resident common areas and activity areas in accordance with infection control procedures is also required, along with performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to three years’ experience preferred in assisted living, personal care, long-term care or experience/exposure to the senior population.
  • Experience driving a mini van and/or a 12-passenger bus
  • Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population.
  • Must have a clean driving record - No special driving license is required
  • Interact with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Responds promptly to resident needs.

  • Balances team and individual responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Competent in organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to use software to design calendars and signs; use email and the Internet.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan and manage facilitation of a comprehensive activities program utilizing team members and volunteers.
  • Attend community planned functions and coordinate events from beginning to end.
  • Help plan appropriate programs for holidays and special events.
  • Coordinate holiday decorations for the community.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure that all equipment and supplies are available for activities and special events.
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate appropriate mixed groups.
  • Maintain activity areas in an orderly manner.
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of activity and programming supplies, games, programs and craft services.
  • Oversee daily care of any animals and/or plants within the activities program and services.
  • Assist in preparing and organizing a calendar of events. Post and distribute the calendar.
  • Distribute community newsletter.
  • Meet with new residents to introduce the program.
  • Assist Director in leadership of the wellness program.
  • Work with volunteer staff.
  • Address resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest.
  • Document resident participation in activities.
  • Maintain resident common areas, activity areas and workspace in accordance with appropriate infection control procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
