About The Position

Freedom Behavioral of Monroe/West Monroe is seeking an Activities/Recreational Therapist to work in our Inpatient Therapy Programs. The Therapist works as an integral part of our clinical services program which is necessary to meet the legal, organizational, medical staff and regulatory agency guidelines. The Therapist works with our therapy services, case management, education and discharge planning team for the patient's well-being. All duties are to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Allegiance and Freedom policies and procedures and Performance Improvement Standards.

Requirements

High School Degree
Certification through an approved certification program designed to train the components of Activity Therapy duties.
One year experience performing duties in a Healthcare setting.
Excellent assertive communication skills, good writing and composition skills and able to organize and prioritize high volume workload.
Must be able to work under close supervision.
Therapeutic Intervention/De-escalation education.
Must successfully complete CPR certification.

Responsibilities

Plans, directs, and coordinates medically-approved activities within the psychiatric program schedule for patients within the facility.
Assesses the patients’ leisure, social, and recreation status as part of the overall biopsychosocial assessment process.
Participates as a member of the treatment team; formulating goals and interventions based off the identified needs of the patients’ condition and recommends appropriate recreational activity.
Provides groups aimed at development of the patient’s social, leisure and physical needs.
Accurately provides groups and documents the patient’s response to the interventions.
Incorporates the response to the group interventions into the patient’s plan of care.
Provides support to the clinical department through teamwork and input into the patient’s overall psychosocial needs.
