About The Position

Patriots Landing is hiring a part-time activities assistant to support their memory care residents with daily activities. If you are an active, fun, self-starter then this is the job for you!! Come and join the Careage team and lead exercise classes for our residents! Friday, Saturday and Sundays.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED, college degree preferred.
  • Possess a minimum of one (1) year marketing, customer service, caregiving and/or activities planning in a senior living environment.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must possess strong oral, written, and computer skills.
  • Must be reliable and have cheerful, outgoing personality.
  • Must be capable of meeting specified ongoing state and regulatory requirements.
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Food Handlers

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer individual with experience working with a senior population in an assisted living environment, particularly those with memory issues/dementia.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold Mission, philosophies and values of facility.
  • Keep abreast of area and community functions.
  • Organize and help plan monthly activity calendar including elements of variety, quality, and interests appropriate to the needs of memory care residents in cooperation w/ Act. Director.
  • Facilitate daily in-house group and one-on-one activities.
  • Help maintain entertainment and supplies budget in coordination with A/L director.
  • Drive, load and unload community bus. No CDL required.
  • Communicate with residents as to preferences, comments and concerns via monthly resident council meeting.
  • Coordinate decorating community for monthly themes, holidays and events along with A/L Director.
  • Implement monthly special events with A/L Dir. including birthday party and other social event or celebration.
  • Create opportunities for artistic enrichment and creativity using crafts designed for successful outcomes, regardless of skill or cognitive level.
  • Maintain a cheerful, enthusiastic attitude while consistently promoting and encouraging resident participation and involvement in activities and socialization.
  • Develop teamwork and cooperative attitude with care staff to better involve them in activities.
  • Assist care staff and residents at mealtimes as permitted/able.
  • Respond/assist in resident, staff, guest or community emergency per guidelines.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies in a clean and orderly manner, report deficiencies to the Maintenance Director.
  • Assist Act. Director in making a weekly supply shopping list as needs arise.
  • Be aware of Res. Dietary and Medical restrictions, i.e. who is diabetic, or requires thickened liquids, who uses a walker/wheelchair.
  • Report unusual incidents or marked change of resident behavior to ED and/or HWD, as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional, sensitive attitude when dealing with residents, family, staff, and others.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required.
  • Any other duties as required by the ED.
