About The Position

The Courville at Manchester is a Senior Healthcare Community seeking an energetic, creative Full-time Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of its residents. This role involves planning and implementing resident activities, providing social and emotional support, and ensuring resident safety. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, has a positive attitude, and enjoys working with seniors. The position offers a flexible schedule and involves a variety of activities such as exercise, games, arts and sciences, travel, lectures, spiritual programs, outings, and musical events. Flexibility and teamwork are essential, as is the ability to assist other departments in emergent situations. Communication skills and the ability to pass a physical examination are required. An LNA license or interest in obtaining one is preferred, as is experience in a skilled nursing environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which include a medical and physical examination
  • Able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, hostile people within the community

Nice To Haves

  • LNA license or interest in getting an LNA license
  • Experience working in a skilled nursing environment is a plus
  • Team-player willing to pitch in and assist as needed in other areas of the facility in emergent situations
  • Good communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Enthusiastically run daily activities that engage our residents
  • Develop new activities that appeal to the different interests of our residents
  • Safely transport residents to and from activities
  • Observe the status of residents regarding physical, emotional, social and spiritual health and report all changes in status to nursing staff
  • Observe resident's rights
  • Assist in evacuation of residents in an emergency
  • Report to work as scheduled and demonstrate dependability and punctuality
  • Work cooperatively/assist with other departments
  • Represent the facility to family and community events
  • Attend in-services, as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
