Activities Assistant
About The Position
The Activities Assistant will assist the Assistant Director of Nursing with the daily activity program and all duties in accordance with BHI policy as well as state and federal requirements. This role involves planning, organizing, and executing a program of activities designed to meet the needs of individual residents, overseeing daily activities to ensure resident safety, and maintaining documentation to meet regulatory standards. The position also includes coordinating decorations, scheduling meetings, managing a volunteer program, and communicating with residents, families, and the care team.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist the Assistant Director of Nursing with the daily activity program.
- Plan, organize, and execute a program of activities designed to meet the needs of individual residents.
- Prepare and post a calendar of upcoming events.
- Oversee daily activities to ensure resident safety.
- Participate in performance improvement and utilization review programs.
- Maintain daily records of activities.
- Complete activity and social services assessments on all admissions along with the MDS.
- Coordinate decorations of the Nursing Facility according to holiday/season.
- Schedule and attend care plan meetings, notifying residents, families, and team members.
- Encourage resident participation in group and individual activities.
- Maintain volunteer program per BHI policy, scheduling and assigning tasks to volunteers.
- Prepare and review monthly newsletter.
- Attend monthly resident council meetings with AD.
- Ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards.
- Communicate regularly with resident families and the entire care team.
- Lead group activities.
- Report and document resident's progress.
- Visit with residents on a one-to-one basis as directed.
- Report to the Activities Director on residents' responses and/or progress.
- Effectively manage the care of assigned patients.
- Effectively carry out Activities role as assigned.
- Assist with activities program for Swing Bed Patients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
