About The Position

To support the Life Enrichment Healthcare Coordinator, enrich the quality of the residents' social, recreational, intellectual, and spiritual lives. This role is responsible for running and assisting in activities, communicating resident needs to the LE Health Coordinator, and documenting participation and reported changes to the immediate supervisor.

  • Ability to make adjustments during an activity to accommodate the group.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Maintain a warm, friendly, and engaging demeanor to foster positive interaction with residents and staff members.
  • Ability to engage and motivate residents of varying abilities.
  • Ability to operate tech equipment needed to run an activity, such as TV/DVD player, computer, microphones, etc.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and carry out delegated tasks.
  • Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead activity groups for the appropriate level of physical, emotional, and cognitive ability, communicating the level of success.
  • Independently develop, plan, and lead own activities that enhance the monthly calendar, ensuring a diverse and engaging program for residents.
  • Conduct interviews with new residents within the first two weeks of moving into Kent Village.
  • Keep work area, including desk and Activity Room, neat and orderly at all times.
  • Meet monthly with LE Healthcare Coordinator to discuss the monthly activity calendar.
  • Lead activities based on the daily activity handout, setting up and putting back everything required for the activity.
  • Maintain, store, and request necessary supplies. Submit the monthly supply list to the director by the second Friday of each month.
  • Assist in transporting residents who require assistance to attend activities.
  • Review daily and upcoming scheduled events with the direct supervisor.
  • Report to the direct supervisor any changes that could indicate distress or cognitive change.
  • Document in the communication log and attend resident care plan meetings as directed by the supervisor. Follow up with proper care plan documentation.
  • Assist the Life Enrichment Healthcare Coordinator in the ongoing evaluation of the activity program to improve programs and better meet the needs of the residents.
  • Provide orientation and ongoing guidance for volunteers.
  • Engage and assist visually impaired residents with scheduled activities, ensuring accessibility.
  • Maintain individual responsibility for self-safety and that of the immediate work environment.
  • Attend and comply with mandatory in-service training.
  • Attend monthly Life Enrichment Staff Meetings.
  • Perform other tasks as requested.
