About The Position

The Activities Assistant plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for adults 55+ by promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, guided by the ministry of Jesus Christ. This position is responsible for carrying out activities with residents, maintaining a positive and engaging environment, and ensuring person-centered care.

Requirements

  • Must recognize role as part of QAPI efforts and carry out assigned QAPI roles and responsibilities.
  • Must consistently model and demonstrate excellence in customer service, with a constant focus on person-centered care/services delivery.
  • Must ensure adherence to the mission and philosophy of the organization and the policies and procedures of the Baptist Life Communities.
  • Must carry out activities with all of the residents in the building and unit assigned.
  • Must maintain the bulletin boards in a neat, attractive manner to attract the residents to the activities posted.
  • Must maintain seasonal/holiday decorations, enhancing the atmosphere in the corridors, day/dining rooms and public areas.
  • Must maintain attendance records on activities.
  • Must assist with ongoing person-centered evaluations to meet the needs of each individual resident at the level they need.
  • Must complete documentation on assigned residents in a timely, complete and orderly manner, including but not limited to the documentation as well as the individualized plans of care designed to meet each resident’s needs.
  • Must assist with recruiting, training and recognizing of volunteers.
  • Must assist with atmosphere enhancement such as gardening, dining room ambience, corridor music or other activities that may be conducted in the corridor areas of the center.
  • Must assist with the monthly calendar and newsletter.
  • Must lead one-on-one conversations and small and large group activities as appropriate to the resident level of cognition.
  • Must transport residents to and from activities.
  • Must attend relevant care plan conferences as assigned by the Activity Director.
  • Must drive facility vehicle as needed for activities away from the Baptist Village Care Center.
  • Must maintain 12 hours of continuing education on an annual basis as required for ongoing certification (if certified).
  • Must report any allegation of abuse, neglect or misappropriation of resident property per facility policy.
