About The Position

The Activities Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted living and long-term care settings by planning, organizing, and facilitating engaging recreational and social activities. This position requires a compassionate and cheerful individual who can connect with seniors, encouraging their participation and fostering a sense of community and well-being. The Activities Assistant collaborates closely with healthcare and support staff to tailor activities that meet the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of each resident. By continuously seeking out new methods and principles, the assistant ensures that programming remains innovative, inclusive, and stimulating. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the residents' overall happiness, social engagement, and personal fulfillment within the accommodation and food services environment.

Requirements

  • Experience working in an assisted living or long-term care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with seniors, showing empathy and respect.
  • Proficiency in understanding and communicating in the English language.
  • High level of personal integrity and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Ability to maintain a cheerful disposition and positive attitude in a caregiving environment.
  • Must be Cheerful and Energetic
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • PA Direct Care Certificate (paid training available)
  • Valid Driver’s License (if needed to operate company vehicles)
  • Must be at least 23 years of age (if needed to operate company vehicles) - if not needed to operate company vehicles, then must be at least 18 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in personal care for the elderly is a plus
  • Experience in developing and leading group activities for older adults.
  • Knowledge of current best practices and innovative methods in senior care programming.
  • Additional language skills to support diverse resident populations.
  • Background in healthcare
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts
  • Ability to work every other weekend and holiday

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a diverse range of recreational and social activities tailored to the interests and abilities of seniors in assisted living and long-term care settings.
  • Engage residents with a cheerful and positive demeanor, encouraging participation and fostering a supportive community atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and caregiving staff to ensure activities align with residents’ health conditions and personal preferences.
  • Maintain accurate records of activity participation and resident feedback to continuously improve program offerings.
  • Stay informed about new trends and best practices in senior care activities to enhance the quality and effectiveness of programming.
