About The Position

Assists with planning and organizing activities for all residents and assists in the maintenance of the Activities Department. Performs duties to assure quality of life for the residents, encouraging them to achieve their highest level of psychosocial interaction. Implements individual interventions as outlined in the residents plan of care. Completes assigned residents activity assessments, care plans, discharge surveys, documentation and other record keeping tasks. Runs daily activity programs, transports residents to and from activities, and assists residents with voting. Delivers monthly newsletters and calendars, charts in POC, sends alerts, and charts in the Behavior Log. Completes inservices and continued education programs when assigned. Assists in resident dining and meals. In-services family members and volunteers on safe van usage and assists residents in the facility van for doctor's appointments. Responsible for creating signs, brochures, newsletters, thank you notes, and other computer projects. Decorates for holidays, plans crafts, and orders supplies. Checks emails daily and feeds fish as needed. Maintains established activity standards and policies, and meets Federal and State requirements. Keeps the working area clean, orderly, safe, and in good working order, reporting any wear, defects, or malfunctions to the Director.

Requirements

  • Must have a genuine interest in geriatrics and assuring quality activities for residents.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes in routine.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage residents to achieve their highest level of psycho social interaction through planned activities programs and other interventions.
  • Implement individual interventions as outlined in the residents plan of care under the direction of the Activity Director.
  • Complete assigned residents activity assessments, care plans, discharge surveys, documentation and other record keeping tasks under the direct supervision of the Activity Director.
  • Run daily activity programs, transporting residents to and from the activity.
  • Assist resident with voting.
  • Deliver monthly Newsletter and calendars to resident rooms.
  • Chart in POC, send alerts and chart in Behavior Log.
  • Complete Inservices and continued education programs when assigned.
  • Assist in resident dining, lunch and dinner meals.
  • In-service family members and volunteers how to safely use the van.
  • Assist residents in facility van to Doctor's appointments.
  • Make signs, brochures, newsletters, thank you notes and other computer projects.
  • Decorate for the Holidays.
  • Plan crafts residents can assist with, buy or order supplies as needed.
  • Check e-mails daily.
  • Feed fish as needed and document.
  • Maintain established activity standards and policies of the facility.
  • Meet Federal and State requirements under direct supervision of the Activity Director.
  • Keep the working area clean, orderly, safe and in good working order.
  • Report observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects and malfunction to Director.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Activity Director.
