About The Position

The Miami Job Corps Center is seeking an enthusiastic, student-focused professional to join their team as an ACT/OCT Coordinator. This role is located in Miami Gardens, Florida. The position focuses on helping young adults transition from their initial Job Corps training to college, advanced training, career development, and long-term success. The ACT/OCT Coordinator will manage and oversee the Center’s ACT and Off-Center Training programs, serving as a mentor, counselor, advocate, and educational resource for students. Responsibilities include helping students identify opportunities, navigate enrollment, stay engaged, overcome challenges, and progress toward completion. The role also involves acting as a liaison between the Miami Job Corps Center and local colleges, universities, community organizations, employers, and other Job Corps centers. The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships, counseling students, promoting educational opportunities, and supporting young adults in achieving their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the Advanced College Training and Off-Center Training programs.
  • Determine student suitability and eligibility for enrollment in accordance with Department of Labor policies and established requirements.
  • Help maintain full enrollment in ACT and Off-Center Training programs.
  • Provide students with individualized case management, mentoring, personal counseling, and career guidance.
  • Establish supportive relationships with students throughout their enrollment.
  • Monitor student progress, retention, attendance, and successful program completion.
  • Provide quality case management and career counseling services for non-residential students.
  • Help students navigate challenges and remain focused on their educational and career goals.
  • Promote and recruit students for advanced training opportunities offered throughout the Job Corps network.
  • Market ACT/OCT and Career Technical Training-aligned advanced training programs.
  • Conduct presentations for students, Job Corps staff, community partners, and employers.
  • Develop positive relationships with other Job Corps centers to increase awareness of advanced training opportunities.
  • Serve as the Center’s primary liaison with local colleges and universities.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with community and business partners that contribute to student success.
  • Complete and monitor daily off-center class attendance.
  • Coordinate required student transportation documentation and requests.
  • Complete required meal requests and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student information.
  • Protect the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive student information and data.
  • Follow all established integrity guidelines and procedures.
  • Produce accurate, thorough, and timely reports, assignments, and documentation.
  • Mentor and model Career Success Standards.
  • Positively influence student behavior through guidance, accountability, and encouragement.
  • Treat students with respect and courtesy while maintaining appropriate expectations.
  • Provide high-quality student supervision and support.
  • Identify problems, analyze causes, evaluate solutions, and follow through until issues are appropriately resolved.
  • Work collaboratively with employees across all departments to ensure students receive effective services and supervision.
  • Communicate ideas and information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain high standards of attendance, accountability, organization, productivity, and professionalism.
  • Prioritize assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
  • Support Center operations and perform other duties as assigned.
