The Centre for Asian Canadian Research and Engagement (ACRE) at UBC is committed to nurturing and facilitating community engaged, ethical, culturally appropriate, publicly relevant, interdisciplinary and intersectional research and engagement work to address the historical and ongoing manifestations of anti-Asian racism in society. Funded by the VPRI Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters, the ACRE Research Engagement Coordinator will support the Centre’s goals to nurture, honour, and expand ethical, reciprocal, and intersectional relationships with diverse Asian Canadian communities to facilitate impactful research and engagement opportunities. Specifically, this role involves managing community relations, community engagement research projects, public-facing events, and community-based student learning experiences for the Centre for Asian Canadian Research and Engagement (ARCE). In addition to maintaining ongoing relationships with key Asian Canadian community and cultural organizations, the incumbent will also proactively identify and initiate opportunities for potential collaboration. With the guidance of ACRE ACAM Program Development & Research Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the workplans of undergraduate and graduate level research assistants who are involved in the Centre’s community-university research projects. Lastly, the incumbent will work closely with ACRE Co-Directors to develop and implement public-facing, community-based events, and will act as the main staff liaison for the ACRE Community Advisory Group (CAG). This position requires collaboration with existing entities that have worked closely with ACRE, such as the Initiative for Student Teaching and Research in Chinese Canadian Studies (INSTRCC) and the Asian Canadian & Asian Migration studies (ACAM) Program to develop and enhance the Centre’s capacity for reciprocal and meaningful community-university collaboration.
