About The Position

Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group (TPMG), formed in 1992, has grown to include over 220 primary care, specialty physicians, and advanced practice clinicians across Hampton Roads and southeastern Virginia. TPMG Thimble Shoals Family Medicine, serving Newport News since 2003, offers preventative and primary care in a friendly, energetic, and comfortable environment, focusing on patient service and comprehensive care. TPMG Thimble Shoals Family Medicine is seeking a full-time Advanced Care Provider (ACP) to join their team. The ideal candidate is conscientious, empathetic, a good communicator, and organized, dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. This role involves delivering comprehensive primary care, including routine wellness visits, evaluation of acute concerns, and management of chronic conditions across the lifespan. The ACP will perform histories and physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians as needed. The practice includes one Physician, one ACP, and support from an experienced administrative and clinical team.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an approved Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current state licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • Current DEA license
  • Current national board certification
  • Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Deliver comprehensive primary care, including routine wellness visits, evaluation of acute concerns, and management of chronic conditions across the lifespan
  • Perform histories and physical exams
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians as needed
  • Provide preventive care services such as screenings, immunizations, and health education
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists
  • Ensure continuity of care through appropriate follow-up
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
  • Practice in accordance with established clinical guidelines and regulatory standards
