About The Position

Reporting to the Quality Assurance & Finance Operations Manager, the Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for assisting with the processing of Accounts Payable, and performs a variety of other financial duties in accordance with TH legislation, policies, procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The Accounts Payable Assistant provides financial, administrative and clerical support to all finance positions and performs all duties and responsibilities with a high level of customer service. Serves in a backup capacity for the Accounts Payable Officer by ensuring the basic duties of the weekly payable run is completed. An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 10 supplemented with practical and general office training/experience or experience working in office setting.
  • Experience using a computer and associated software, and a computerized accounting program would be an asset.
  • Experience with data entry.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment operations.
  • Basic knowledge or experience in financial procedures, processes and budgeting.
  • Microsoft Office skills (word, excel) or a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment and be sensitive and understanding of First Nation Culture and Traditions.
  • Good professional and personal ethical standards, honest, trustworthy and respectful.
  • Criminal Records Check
  • Class 5 Driver’s License with clear driver’s abstract
  • Standard First Aid
  • TH101 Cultural Awareness Training
