About The Position

Accounts Payable Analyst – Denver, Colorado (Hybrid) Do you thrive in assisting AP teams with daily operations? Western Union powers your pursuit. You will play a critical role in providing project management, process, and technical support to the accounts payable function. This individual acts as a liaison with other internal departments to design and implement effective A/P processes. You will document process and workflow steps, provide decision support analysis, and deliver technical support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of accounting OR accounts payable experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office experience including Excel.
  • Experience with Oracle is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Accounts Payable team and Manager on daily operations including query resolution, researching complex situations, guiding other AP specialists (30 people located in India).
  • Supports various Accounts Payable activities such as invoice and payment processing, reviewing and approving/releasing payments, month end close procedures, travel and entertainment (T&E) expenses (corporate card handling, P-card payments and reconciliations), reporting.
  • Collaborates and communicates with various stakeholders, such as employees (e.g., follow up on service approvals, helpdesk inquiries, errors, etc.), vendors, Sourcing (Procurement Team), Accounting teams, etc.
  • Assists with researching and responding to garnishment/levy notices (research if the party is a vendor/agent, and coordinate responses, and withholdings), Form 1099 reporting activities (primarily related to B-notices, handling responses, TIN verifications, etc.), and printing and handling checks (refunds, returned checks, etc.).
  • Timely responds to escalations.
  • Proactively identifies issues, gaps in the process, and suggests potential improvements.
  • Exhibits a spirit of continuous improvement, critical thinking, root cause problem solving, etc.
  • Actively participates in various projects in relation to Accounts Payable process (RPA solutions, implementation of Oracle AP in new countries).
