About The Position

The Accounting Technician works in the Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration and supports the mission of the Second Injury Board (SIB) under La. R.S. 23:1371.A. The role helps encourage the employment of individuals with disabilities through financial oversight of employer and insurer reimbursements. The incumbent monitors, audits, and manages financial operations for a fund exceeding $40 million, ensuring compliance with procedures for annual assessments, benefit reimbursements, claim settlements, and financial reporting.

The position performs complex financial reviews, coordinates disbursements, provides technical guidance to staff, and serves as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders on accounting and financial matters. Multiple positions will be filled. The position is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Requirements

• Three years of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations.
• Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience.
• Applicants selected for employment must submit to drug screening and a background check.

Responsibilities

• Input validated payments into the database and distribute them with explanations of non-eligible items.
• Audit claim documentation submitted by legal defense counsel.
• Calculate total reimbursement amounts owed.
• Process check requests for legal settlements and maintain reimbursement diaries.
• Coordinate with OSRAP to resolve outstanding check issues and reissue checks as needed.
• Monitor, audit, and manage the fund’s financial operations, including annual assessments, benefit reimbursements, claim settlements, and financial reporting.
• Provide technical guidance to staff and respond to internal and external stakeholders regarding accounting and financial matters.
