About The Position

The Treasury department is hiring an Accounting Technician I to join their team. The Cash Office team is looking for an enthusiastic, accounting-minded individual with strong attention to detail and focus on excellent customer service. A successful applicant can demonstrate effective communication across a variety of platforms including in-person interactions, email, and formal written communications with a diverse audience. The ability to produce a high volume of data entry accurately is critical. The ideal candidate will have an adaptable mindset that is open to technology and modernization of business processes. The office and procedures are designed to build up staff in the Finance Department, and both on-the-job and formalized educational opportunities can be provided to a candidate that demonstrates the skills needed. The work is complex and diverse with frequent interruptions and public interactions, all while providing excellent customer service. The incumbent will be constantly assessing and prioritizing tasks and workload in a dynamic and evolving environment that requires innovative thinking, willingness to adapt quickly, and a flexible mindset. Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Six (6) months of any combination of job-related post-secondary education and clerical or customer service experience in a job-related area.
  • Post-secondary Credit: Courses will be credited based on 3 semester/4 quarter hours= 1 month of experience.
  • Applicant must document how relevant education and experience meets the above minimum qualification.
  • Transcripts that indicate the credit hours earned for the specific course work will need to be included with the CBJ application.
  • Resume and Cover Letter required.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of technical accounting and review functions.
  • Reviewing cash batches for accuracy.
  • Posting cash batches and payments to the accounting system.
  • Uploading cash transmittals.
  • Providing technical support to the Cash Office staff.
  • Lead responsibilities may be assigned.
  • Provide excellent customer service over the phone and by email responding to questions and concerns.
  • Prepares monthly journal entries to charge out general postage use to the individual departments.
  • Processes payment transfers and reversals.
  • Assists with verifying and posting payment batches entered by City Cashiers.
  • Uploads all CBJ department deposits to the general ledger.
  • Provide back up to the City Cashiers.
