About The Position

This position provides academic support for historically challenging Perkins courses with high drops, fails, and withdrawals to help increase student retention and overall success. This position assumes a near-peer facilitator role and assists designated personnel to ensure program objectives are met and related administrative support requirements are fulfilled. This position has a start date of August 3 (8/3) and will begin regular instructional duties during the Fall semester. Classification: Casual/As-Needed Casual Duration: On-call

Requirements

• Associate's degree or 60 credits.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 with evidence of understanding of related target course content.
• Academic recommendation.
• Completion of required training and professional development program requirements.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience in one-on-one and small group instructional setting.

Responsibilities

• Assumes a near-peer facilitator role to ensure the program's purpose.
• Attends most courses as assigned.
• Creates and writes supplemental instruction plans for sessions and collaborates with the immediate manager and instructors to ensure adequate support, and accurate session data.
• Utilizes various technology platforms and interactive learning strategies; inputs and tracks related data, prepares documents, reports, correspondences; distributes survey data information.
• Develops resources and outreach materials to encourage participation in supplemental instruction, as well as training resources for Academic & Tutoring Support Services.
• Related projects and duties as assigned.
