About The Position

This role involves supervising accounting staff, ensuring work quality, setting deadlines, and acting as a resource for complex issues. The position focuses on maximizing departmental efficiency, aligning department goals with company objectives and regulatory requirements, and applying accounting principles to General Ledger functions. Key responsibilities include preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and managing documentation for audits and regulatory agencies. The role also involves overseeing cash handling, administering company policies, communicating across the organization, and mentoring staff. Compliance with document retention policies and internal controls for financial reporting (J-Sox) is crucial.

Requirements

  • Apply accounting theory and principals when performing GL functions.
  • Extract, organize and review financial records to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to internal control policies.
  • Prepare monthly and closing journal entries and financial statements in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Facilitate the archiving of backup documentation.
  • Facilitate the retrieval of documentation for regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee routine cash handling and reconciliation.
  • Assist with retrieval of documents for internal and external audits.
  • Support and administer Company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with all levels of the organization, various departments and external customers and vendors to efficiently manage product and services.
  • Act as a mentor and take time to coach and encourage personal development.
  • Maintain compliance with document retention policy.
  • Responsible for company compliance with internal controls over financial reporting for J-Sox.
