About The Position

SVA is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join their Small Business Accounting team. This role offers the opportunity to refine skills across various industries with a focus on Healthcare clients (medical, dental, and veterinary practices). The position involves continuous learning, client-facing interactions, and mentoring junior staff. The Supervisor will collaborate with a diverse team and benefit from personalized development and mentoring. This is a highly visible and impactful role, both internally and externally. The role is based in Wisconsin and is an onsite position in either Brookfield, WI or Madison, WI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public accounting required.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, EA, or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work to staff members based on their knowledge and capabilities.
  • Participate in staff training, offering guidance and constructive feedback.
  • Review significant accounting or taxation matters with the In-Charge.
  • Conduct timely and effective staff reviews.
  • Lead team projects involving multiple staff members, leveraging diversity and inclusion.
  • Coordinate engagement phases, including staff requirements, job planning, and scheduling with the manager or principal.
  • Lead and complete assigned audits, reviews, returns, and/or compilations.
  • Study and evaluate client internal controls and prepare/review work programs and time budgets.
  • Review financial statements, notes, schedules, management letters, and tax returns for discussion with the In-Charge and client.
  • Prepare for, schedule, and lead client meetings.
  • Assist with monthly billings as requested.
  • Maintain client information confidentiality and adhere to SVA policies.
  • Ensure efficient and satisfactory performance of duties.
  • Work with a mentor to develop a career path.
  • Broaden involvement with outside associations to promote SVA.
  • Participate in SVA and community events, professional, civic, or charitable organizations.
  • Utilize internal and external learning opportunities.
  • Refine supervisory skills.
  • Educate and train others on business and client processes.
  • Serve as a mentor to interns, staff accountants, and/or senior staff accountants.
  • Display active, positive participation in group meetings.
  • Develop and deliver training, presentations, or articles for internal and/or external audiences.
