About The Position

We are looking for a proactive employee to oversee the daily accounting operations of AccessCNY, including accounts payable, general ledger accounting functions, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing processes. AccessCNY has a history stretching back more than 70 years and is continually growing and expanding its reach. We offer person-centered services that empower individuals of all ages and abilities to reach their full potential as part of our community. Our focus is supporting individuals by ways of residential housing, mental health and clinical services, and immersing our participants in community engagement. Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, plus 5 years of related accounting experience, or, a similar combination of education and experience, required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience, required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software packages, with a strong working knowledge of accounting systems and MS Office tools.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.
  • Must have a valid NYS driver’s license in accordance with the Agency Vehicle and Driving policy and transportation necessary to meet program needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of monthly internal financial statements and year-end closing procedures
  • Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations for month end closing
  • Prepare and analyze data for financial statements and reports
  • Assist in preparation of the annual Agency budget
  • Assist with certain Accounts Payable responsibilities
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and/or yearly investment portfolio reconciliations and entries
  • Assist to maintain the general ledger accounting system set-up, processes, and chart of accounts
  • Coordinate and work with program directors and/or managers to monitor spending on state and federal contracts
  • Prepare quarterly, and/or yearly financial reports for compliance with assigned grants/contracts
  • Assist in preparation of contract and grant budgets on annual basis
  • Work with payroll team and program directors to maintain appropriate and current labor distributions for all positions under contract/grants to ensure compliance with budgets
  • Assist with annual Agency financial audit
  • Maintain all appropriate records throughout the year to ensure an accurate audit trail
  • Prepare files from accounting system to import into the respective cost report’s software
  • Prepare annual cost reports for specific programs (i.e. AHCF, PCPCR)
  • Prepare annual Agency Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR)
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and performance management for assigned staff
  • Provide person-centered, quality services
  • Observe confidentiality and safeguards all participant related information
  • Follow Agency standards and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as company policies
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned
