About The Position

SSC Advisors, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join their Client Accounting Services team in their Salina, Kansas office. This is a growth position within an employee-owned firm dedicated to client success. The role involves preparing and processing payroll, managing multi-state tax filings, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with accounts payable and receivable. Additionally, responsibilities include performing monthly financial closings, ensuring accurate revenue and expense recording, preparing operating budgets and forecasts, managing accounts receivable reporting, processing accounts payable transactions, generating invoices, and preparing sales & use tax returns for multiple states.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or payroll preparation
Strong analytical skills
Skilled in accounting technology including spreadsheets
Experience with accounting systems including QuickBooks Online
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time-management and prioritization skills
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Ability to interact with clients and peers
Experience with the Microsoft suite of applications is required

Nice To Haves

A bachelor's degree and/or previous accounting coursework is preferred and will be considered a strong asset for success in this role

Responsibilities

Prepare and process weekly or biweekly payrolls
Prepare required multi state tax filings and record activity in the general ledger
Reconcile bank to financial records
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable
Perform monthly financial closing process
Ensure revenue/expenses are properly recorded
Prepare operating budgets and forecasts
Prepare reporting for accounts receivables and aging of accounts
Review and process accounts payable transactions
Ability to generate invoices and record receipts
Prepare and manage sales & use tax returns for multiple states
