About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Specialist to join our accounting team. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records through daily and monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, credit card accounts, payment processors, and accounting software. The ideal candidate has exceptional analytical skills, enjoys solving discrepancies, and is committed to maintaining accurate financial records.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Strong experience performing bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, filtering, sorting, and pivot tables.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to identify, research, and resolve financial discrepancies independently.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Reconcile customer payments, deposits, electronic transfers, ACH transactions, checks, and credit card transactions to the accounting system.
  • Match transactions between bank statements, merchant payment platforms, credit card statements, and accounting software.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, missing transactions, duplicate entries, and reconciliation variances promptly.
  • Record journal entries and account adjustments as necessary to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger balances and supporting documentation.
  • Review outstanding deposits, uncleared checks, refunds, chargebacks, returned payments, and other reconciling items.
  • Work closely with management and other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve financial processes.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare reconciliation reports and supporting schedules for management and external accountants.
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and financial controls.
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper financial records.
