About The Position

Performs accounting functions and secretarial services for the division, working with various bank officers across departments like Lending, Information Technology, Customer Service, Operations, and Human Resources. This role handles confidential and sensitive reports, requiring strict adherence to confidentiality regarding bank and customer information. Priorities are dictated by time-sensitive deadlines.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in accounting or related field and/or significant employment experience with exposure to accounting areas.
  • Experience in theoretical and practical accounting.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially spreadsheet analysis.
  • Proficient use of Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational, and financial management skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and willing to upgrade and enhance skills as necessary through self-study and/or formal training.
  • Confidentiality and tactfulness in dealing with bank and customer information is mandatory.
  • Ability to conduct relationships with co-workers, customers, the community, and the public in a manner that enhances the bank’s image and marketing effort.
  • Will be called upon from time to time to participate with community organizations and projects.
  • Work closely with the bank’s tax accountants and other consultants on various issues.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, assembling, and distributing reports for Committee and Board meetings.
  • General ledger reconciliation, including documentation, adjustment determination, journal entry preparation, financial account analysis, and irregularity resolution.
  • Conducting day-to-day corporate accounting activities, billing and inventory reporting, expense tracking, transactional accounting, cost management, cash flow analyses, and financial project reviews.
  • Assisting in the preparation of bank and holding company financial statements and related reports.
  • Developing and maintaining complex computer-based analyses and reports of financial institution accounting records for management.
  • Monitoring fixed asset management.
  • Cross-training with the Accounting Officer on investment portfolio activities, correspondent bank activities/postings, and accrual/prepaid items.
  • Interacting with bank personnel to ensure compliance with established accounting procedures.
  • Tracking information for and preparing state sales and use tax reports.
  • Completing all initial and annual training requirements as outlined by ASBT.
  • Performing other duties as required, consistent with the goals and responsibilities of the administrative and/or operations function.
