About The Position

We are looking for an Accounting Specialist for our growing team! This role contributes to the production and distribution of various quarterly and annual reports, primarily to the regulatory authorities of all Canadian insurance companies. The specialist will participate in the monthly closing process, including performance and documentation of related internal controls. They will also take part in various projects that may deal with complex topics and be able to anticipate their impacts on regulatory reporting. Additionally, the role involves preparing detailed analyses, including the quarterly analytical review, and participating in process standardization, simplification, and automation initiatives. Continuous improvement of deliverables according to the evolving needs of our internal and external partners is also a key aspect. The Accounting Specialist will assist in facilitating the audit process and liaise with internal and external auditors, and perform other related duties such as pension fund accounting and ad-hoc management requests. This role is a new member of our growing team.

Requirements

  • CPA accounting designation
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in accounting and accounting standards (IFRS)
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously and challenge ways of doing things.
  • Fast learning capability and agility
  • Strong analytical, synthesis and rigor skills
  • Leadership, team spirit, autonomy and efficiency
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders.
  • Good process documentation skills
  • Intermediate Excel level
  • Bilingual: French and English, Need to interact on a regular basis with an English-speaking

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Oracle and Hyperion is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the property and casualty insurance industry is an asset.

Responsibilities
