If so, we should meet! We are currently searching for the right person to join our team as a Full-Time Accounting Specialist. Accounting Specialist responsibilities include maintaining accurate and current financial records, preparing various reports for executives and other management teams and reconciling bank statements and accounts. The position will also involve work with various accounting software programs used to process business transactions, such as accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. A successful Accounting Specialist will help ensure that the Bank’s financial records and underlying transactions are processed efficiently, provide timely information to management and are accurate. Requirements

  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.

  • Proficient in Excel, 10-key by touch, Word, Outlook and Adobe PDF.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, college courses in accounting preferred.
  • Four years of accounting experience.
  • Two plus years of Accounts Payable experience.
  • Work location: Guaranty Bank and Trust in Addison, TX. Must live within 30 minutes of the bank's location listed below.

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm with a 1-hour lunch break.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various general ledger and bank account reconciliations in a timely manner.
  • Prepare digital copies of records on a regular basis for internal customers as well as auditors and external customers/vendors.
  • Research, track, and resolve accounting problems or errors that may arise.
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper codes.
  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment. Verifying invoices and input for accuracy.
  • Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding invoices and check requests.
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Serve as the contact for resolution on accounts payable inquiries regarding account handling.
  • Maintain and report Use Tax in compliance with State requirements.
  • Perform account research and analysis to resolve issues identified in reconciliations.
  • Assist with daily and end of month procedures.
  • Identify, research, and report accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Retrieve and file external reports appropriately on an as needed basis.
  • Organize and store financial documents and records in a secure and accessible manner.
  • Crosstrain in various accounting department functions to assist the team during vacations or illnesses.
  • Comply with privacy policies and procedures to maintain customer confidentiality and information protection;
  • Comply with all federal, state and local regulatory rules and regulations governing financial institutions, as well as all company policies and procedures.
  • Complete and pass all required regulatory compliance training as assigned.
  • Perform any additional duties and tasks assigned by management.
