About The Position

The Accounting Project Manager oversees key accounting projects and month-end activities to ensure expenses are accurately recorded in accordance with GAAP. This role focuses on project setup, large-volume general ledger reconciliations, and supporting self-distribution project rollouts for the accounting group. The Accounting Project Manager collaborates closely with business users, performs system testing from an accounting perspective, and acts as a liaison for inventory adjustment exceptions. The position requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 10+ years of accounting-related experience.
  • CPA certification or active CPA candidacy.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, accounting procedures, accounting concepts, and internal control processes in accounts payable and general accounting.
  • Hands-on experience with financial statements, balance sheets, financial reporting, bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills to produce reports and spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including strong Excel skills for spreadsheet preparation and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction while successfully accomplishing objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support accounting workstreams for the Oracle Cloud (Oracle Fusion) implementation
  • Partner with Accounting leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to define requirements, manage timelines, and drive deliverables
  • Act as liaison between Accounting, IT, and implementation partners
  • Participate in system design, configuration, and user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring financial accuracy and process integrity
  • Support design and implementation of inventory, cost accounting, and stock ledger processes within Oracle Fusion
  • Provide subject matter expertise on stock ledger and inventory accounting, particularly during back-end implementation phases
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to ensure alignment between operational flows and financial reporting
  • Develop and maintain accounting process documentation, SOPs, and playbooks
  • Support “train-the-trainer” efforts for new systems and processes
  • Create and tailor training materials (including Oracle-provided content) and track adoption across teams
  • Ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting, including accruals, reconciliations, and COGS analysis
  • Support inventory accounting processes including VMI, cross-docking, and distribution model transitions
  • Assist in developing KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to support business performance
  • Partner with Finance, IT, Supply Chain, and Data teams to ensure data integrity and alignment across systems
  • Support issue resolution, process improvements, and system enhancements
