About The Position

The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Professional to support the day-to-day financial operations of the Chamber and its affiliated organizations. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to nonprofit finance, accounting operations, and organizational systems while contributing to initiatives that support economic development and community growth throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, adaptable, and eager to learn. We are open to candidates with varying levels of experience and will shape responsibilities based on the selected candidate's background, strengths, and growth potential.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in accounting required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow within the role

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
  • 1–2 years of prior experience in bookkeeping, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or financial operations preferred
  • Proficiency with financial software systems preferred
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting, Sage Intacct, or Bill.com a plus, but not required
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day accounting and finance operations for the Chamber and affiliated organizations
  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, reconciliations, invoices, and financial record maintenance
  • Prepare and process financial transactions accurately and timely across multiple entities
  • Assist with monthly reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit preparation
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of financial processes, procedures, and documentation
  • Collaborate with internal departments and leadership to support operational and financial needs
  • Assist with maintaining organized financial records and supporting compliance requirements
  • Utilize accounting and financial systems including Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Excel, and other organizational software platforms
  • Participate in cross-training and support evolving departmental responsibilities and initiatives
