About The Position

Zen-Noh Hay, Inc. (ZHI) is seeking an Accounting Manager responsible for accounting operations and reporting. This role involves examining, reviewing, and compiling financial statements, managing general ledger accounts, reporting on internal financial controls, and addressing other general accounting issues. The position may involve staff management or overseeing a specialized accounting area. Additionally, the role coordinates the maintenance of computer programs such as booking and accounting systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • 5 years’ accounting experience.
  • Substantial knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Substantial knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; strong use of database and spreadsheet applications (Excel).
  • Substantial knowledge of the theory and practice of accounting (i.e. fixed assets, receivables, cash processes, internal revenue code, tax, reconciliation, financial statements, and processes).
  • Substantial knowledge of accounting and financial software programs, and automated data processing systems/programs (depending on area of assignment).
  • Knowledge of forecasting, statistical modeling; including variance analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of sales and use tax (depending on area of assignment).
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and present findings.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with ability to remain flexible to changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently respond to rapidly changing environment; including interpretations of FASB rulings.
  • Ability to establish, monitor, and revise internal controls.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise oral and written reports.
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage and coach subordinates, including ability to communicate regarding performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department; including formulation and changes of accounting practices, accurate reporting, control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely and complete month end closing, financial reporting, account reconciliation, review of financial statements, forecasting, monitoring budgets, and maintains fixed assets.
  • Monitor, maintain, and revise financial internal control program.
  • Prepare and coordinate financial statements with related corporate entities.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Coordinate and monitor annual budget(s).
  • Review and approve credit applications and limits.
  • Responsible for property taxes, sales taxes, and commodity grain assessment remittances.
  • Prepare Standard Reinsurance Agreement (SRA) exhibits of compensation, administrative expenses and adjusting expenses; may prepare required statutory reporting.
  • Maintain tax, discount and premium codes and tables.
  • Oversee staffing and job development activities (hiring, training, employee performance management, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, etc.); develop, communicate, and manage individual staff performance expectations that align with company goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
