About The Position

Rainbow Restoration is a growing restoration platform serving markets throughout South Carolina and Virginia. We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to help lead the day-to-day accounting function across our multi-location, multi-entity organization. This is a hands-on accounting leadership role responsible for coordinating the monthly close process, reviewing accounting activity, developing accounting staff, and ensuring accurate and consistent financial information across the organization. The right person will work closely with the CFO and accounting team while independently managing the day-to-day accounting needs of a growing operating company. This role is intended for someone who is comfortable both reviewing the work of others and stepping into the details when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and the monthly close process
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online
  • Experience preparing or reviewing monthly financial statements
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and the ability to identify accounting issues requiring additional review
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting and operational systems
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and exercise sound judgment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior accounting management, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with multi-entity or multi-location accounting preferred
  • Experience supervising or reviewing the work of accounting staff preferred
  • Experience with payroll accounting and processing preferred
  • Experience supporting an operating company, construction, restoration, field services, or project-based environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the monthly close process across multiple entities and locations, including maintaining the close calendar, assigning responsibilities, monitoring completion, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll-related entries, intercompany entries, allocations, and other month-end adjustments.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by accounting staff, ensure reconciling items are researched and resolved timely, and maintain supporting schedules for key accounts.
  • Prepare and review schedules supporting accrued revenue, unearned revenue, and other revenue recognition entries for CFO review and approval.
  • Manage payroll processing and payroll accounting, including review of payroll changes, payroll reconciliations, related liabilities, journal entries, and coordination of corrections with Human Resources and payroll providers.
  • Prepare commission and incentive calculations across the organization and ensure approved amounts are properly reflected in payroll.
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany activity across multiple companies, including shared expense allocations and due to/ due from balances.
  • Review payment batches, AP aging, vendor activity, and other cash disbursement activity in coordination with the accounts payable function.
  • Review AR accounting activity, including reconciliations, customer deposits, unapplied cash, credit balances, retainage, and other AR-related schedules.
  • Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff, including assigning work, reviewing deliverables, cross-training employees, maintaining backup coverage, and holding the team accountable for deadlines and quality.
  • Support the CFO with annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation requested by auditors, tax advisors, and other accounting partners.
  • Maintain and review fixed asset schedules, depreciation, debt schedules, interest calculations, leases, and other balance sheet accounts as assigned.
  • Help maintain consistent accounting practices across all companies and locations, including account classifications, closing procedures, journal entry practices, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain and improve accounting controls related to journal entries, payment approvals, account reconciliations, system access, and segregation of duties.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reduce manual processes, strengthen controls, improve reporting, and better utilize accounting systems and technology.
