About The Position

Manage the overall day-to-day activity of the office accounting department and provide oversight of all office accounting staff. This role involves creating a supportive environment to develop a high-performing finance team, providing training opportunities, and engaging in mentoring relationships. The manager will lead accountants and other related team members, provide timely performance feedback, and contribute to annual performance appraisals using talent management systems. Responsibilities include reviewing quarterly account reconciliations, monthly G&A monitors, and estimating recovery monitors, as well as managing petty cash, payroll, and joint venture bank accounts. The role also involves reviewing and approving monthly journal entries, assisting in the resolution of daily office issues, and reviewing all office contracts and lease agreements. Ensuring the builders risk log is complete and insurance coverage is in place, reviewing and approving orders from external suppliers, and reviewing charitable contribution requests for policy compliance are also key duties. The salary range for this position is estimated to be $92,000.00 - $115,000.00 USD annualized.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, and 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Thorough application of accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, general ledger)
  • Analytic ability to review and assess financial data, interpret trends, and recognize inconsistencies
  • Understands accounting implications of various contract terms
  • Demonstrates understanding of cash flows and implements procedures to optimize interest income
  • Knowledgeable of policies and standards to ensure compliance while identifying financial risks
  • Displays actions related to profitability and risk management and effectively communicates risk management issues
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion with the ability to identify problems and initiate corrective action
  • Able to apply innovation to offer and implement suggestions to improve overall operations
  • Ability to manage many activities, requests, and short-cycle deadlines simultaneously
  • Able to observe performance and effectively provide performance feedback
  • Proficient with financial system applications, MS Excel, and MS Office
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and flexible to operate with minimal direction and little or no supervision while working in complex and changing environment.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and update estimating recovery monitor and review with Financial Manager and Chief Estimator.
  • Manage petty cash, payroll and joint venture bank accounts and reconciliations.
  • Review and approve monthly journal entries.
  • Assist in resolution of daily office issues including vendor disputes, escalate to Financial Manager as appropriate.
  • Review all office contracts and lease agreements prior to submission to Financial Manager for approval.
  • Ensure builders risk log is complete and insurance coverage is in place.
  • Review and approve orders from external suppliers.
  • Review charitable contribution requests and ensure compliance with policy.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
