About The Position

Ensure compliance with IHG policies, procedures, and statutory requirements. Plan, direct, or coordinate accounting, investing, banking, insurance, securities, and other financial activities of the Accounting Department.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work on Guam, USA without restrictions.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident or a Resident of Federated States of Micronesia (FSM).
  • Minimum 3-year experience or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cooperate, coordinate and communicate with other departments in matters concerning accounting related matters and internal control.
  • Work with Superior on manpower planning and management needs.
  • Interact, as required, with individuals outside the hotel including the hotel’s bank, auditors, other hotels, and IHG corporate offices.
  • Ensure training needs analysis of Finance staff is carried out and training programs are designed and implemented to meet needs.
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures to improve work flows in the accounts department.
  • Prepare and input journal entry for month-end closing.
  • Assist the Director of Finance in month-end closing IHG reporting package.
  • Analyze monthly financial accounts and provide financial information to management.
  • Ensure all accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Evaluate existing internal control measures that apply to accounting procedures and computer systems as per IHG Policies and Procedures.
  • Employ adequate internal control procedures to ensure correct authorization for payment procedures.
  • Manage internal and external audits when they occur.
  • Provide safekeeping, including proper storage and access for all contracts, leases, and other financial records.
  • Recommend and maintain an appropriate list of delegation of authority for hotel management.
  • Liaise with owner office, internal, and external auditors.
  • Assist in monthly forecasting and yearly budget input.
  • Coordinate and administrate in CSA.
  • Supervise Income Auditor.
  • Report directly to and communicate with the Director of Finance & Business Support on all matters pertaining to accounting and financial controls.
  • Perform the duties of General Cashier and Paymaster as outlined in the job description for General Cashier and Paymaster.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all internal customers and guests in order to exceed their needs.
  • Take action to address needs in order to exceed expectations.
  • Demonstrate awareness of OH&S policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within OH&S guidelines.
  • Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly.
  • Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers.
  • Log security incidents and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements.
