About The Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Accounting Department to include but not limited to managing the accounts payable system, purchasing general ledger, monthly and annual financial statements, governmental and grant reporting.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication, basic mathematics, computer applications, and technical systems.
  • Minimum of four years of leadership experience or 5 years of progressively greater responsibility or significant contributions to projects and initiatives that demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, or other business office-related functions.
  • Minimum credit score of 650.
  • Ability to perform more complex documents in Microsoft Word, including creating tables, charts, graphs, and other elements.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to analyze data, including the use of formulas, functions, lookup tables, and other standard spreadsheet elements.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions, and other elements.
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, opinions and extrapolations of information collected and synthesized/analyzed.
  • Responsible for the resolution of conflicts.
  • Compile, analyze, and prepare information in an effective written form.
  • Effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Regularly required to sit and use repetitive hand movement to type and grasp.
  • Frequently required to stand or walk.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree program with a recognized major and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; or
  • A combination of relevant experience and completion of a high school diploma with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, or General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5, and healthcare-related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate-type program.
  • If an individual has completed a degree at a higher level than required by the role and had a stronger GPA in that program, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the high school diploma or Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provides management to departmental staff, including performance management, hiring/firing recommendations, fostering a culture of accountability, developing action plans, empowering staff, delegating duties, assisting with budget development, ensuring regulatory compliance, overseeing training, recommending policy changes, and ensuring employee-related reporting compliance.
  • Manages the daily activities of the Accounting Department, including developing timelines for financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate monthly close processes, preparing financial reports, developing and maintaining accounting processes for general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing, and grant accounting, monitoring internal controls, and implementing software features and process improvements.
  • Oversees various analyses, reporting activities, compliance requirements, and special projects for the organization, including assigning and approving governmental/grant reporting, coordinating annual financial audits, assisting with budget development, providing financial analysis and recommendations, and coordinating special projects.
  • Oversees purchasing, inventory, and supply management activities, ensuring the availability of necessary supplies, monitoring inventory levels, reviewing purchasing activity for compliance, consulting with leadership on supply effectiveness, reviewing data on expenditures, and ensuring standard supply lists are maintained.
  • Oversees procurement activities and vendor relationships, ensuring analysis of quotations and proposals, participating in the review of new products/services, ensuring review of pricing and terms, overseeing vendor performance, and recommending process improvements.
  • Oversees fixed assets, equipment contracts, and service agreements, including maintenance contracts, copier leases, and other service agreements, coordinating maintenance and repair activities, ensuring efficient new equipment installation, maintaining records, and providing recommendations on equipment replacement and contract renewals.
  • Adheres to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy.
  • Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
