About The Position

Our client, a well-established nonprofit human services organization, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations for a large, multi-site organization with a significant operating budget. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys managing teams, improving financial processes, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting in a mission-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience or four years in public accounting
  • Previous supervisory experience leading multiple direct reports
  • Strong financial statement preparation, budgeting, and month-end close experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Candidates must be comfortable with: Working fully on-site
  • Candidates must be comfortable with: Passing a background check
  • Candidates must be comfortable with: Holding a valid U.S. driver's license
  • Candidates must be comfortable with: Meeting an annual influenza vaccination requirement
  • Candidates must be comfortable with: Working in a human services environment supporting individuals with developmental disabilities

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Finance, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
  • CPA or active pursuit of CPA strongly preferred
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting is highly preferred
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software such as MAS 200 or similar systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Fixed Assets
  • Supervise and mentor accounting, payroll, and accounts payable staff
  • Manage the monthly close process and financial reporting
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Analyze financial performance, labor costs, and budget variances
  • Assist with annual budgeting, audits, and regulatory reporting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable governmental accounting regulations
  • Oversee monthly cost allocations and financial reporting across departments
  • Develop financial reports and provide data analysis to leadership
  • Support continuous process improvements within the accounting function
  • Maintain accurate financial records and internal controls
