About The Position

The Plant Accounting Manager is a key financial leader within the manufacturing plant, partnering closely with the Plant Controller and operations leadership. This role owns the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the plant’s financial results while ensuring strong internal controls and driving continuous improvement. This is a hands-on, highly visible role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, lean manufacturing environment and enjoys blending technical accounting expertise with operational partnership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business field
  • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing
  • Strong expertise in cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory management
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and internal controls
  • Proven ability to independently manage the month-end close
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communicator with the ability to partner across functions
  • Self-starter with a high sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability
  • Demonstrated track record of process improvement and driving efficiencies

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the full month-end close cycle, ensuring timely and accurate financial results in a lean team environment.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Oversee inventory valuation, reserves, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes.
  • Maintain and update standard costs; analyze labor, overhead, and manufacturing variances.
  • Support SOX and internal control requirements; ensure compliance with US GAAP.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance accuracy.
  • Prepare audit schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Perform detailed cost analysis to support operational decision-making.
  • Deliver recurring and ad hoc reporting for plant leadership and corporate finance.
  • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and corporate teams in a hands-on plant environment.
