About The Position

McCann Industries is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead their accounting team and oversee the monthly close process. McCann Industries distributes construction equipment and building materials across the Midwest. The accounting group is described as small, allowing for close relationships with accounts and team members, while the business's complexity, involving multiple locations, real inventory, and demanding customers, ensures interesting work. The role reports directly to the CFO and is suitable for individuals with a couple of years of accounting supervisory experience ready to take on more responsibility.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
3–5 years of accounting experience
At least 2 years of experience leading people
Confidence with GAAP, the close, and financial statement preparation
Strong Excel skills
Ability to explain financial results plainly to non-accounting personnel

Responsibilities

Month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and financial statements under GAAP
Monthly reporting to management, with comparisons to budget and prior year
Managing a team of staff accountants and accounts payable specialists — hiring, training, coaching, and day-to-day direction
Developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Year-end audit preparation and managing the relationship with outside auditors
Tax filings and supporting documentation
