About The Position

The City of Seabrook is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and collaborative Accounting Manager to join its Finance Department. This role offers an opportunity for an accounting professional to engage in various financial functions, lead, problem-solve, improve processes, support a team, and ensure the financial integrity of the City. The position involves working across general ledger accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, fixed assets, grants and project accounting, budget preparation, annual audit preparation, internal controls, GASB compliance, and staff development. The Accounting Manager also serves as an independent accounting reviewer, maintaining segregation of duties and strong financial controls. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, a strong communicator, a leader, and improvement-minded, with a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, AP, reconciliations, budgeting, audits, and financial analysis. At the City of Seabrook, this role has a direct impact on the organization and the community, offering meaningful responsibility and a key role in maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the City's financial operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Governmental accounting experience is desired
  • Ability to be bonded

Responsibilities

  • Financial reporting and year-end close
  • Accounts payable and vendor management

  • Budget preparation and financial analysis

  • Internal controls and process improvements
  • GASB compliance, including GASB 101, 87 and 96
  • Coordination and development of Accounting staff
  • Preparation and support of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
  • Serves as a key independent accounting reviewer
  • Helps maintain appropriate segregation of duties and strong financial controls
