The Accounting Manager oversees professional-level accounting functions in a technology-driven brand protection and domain management environment. This role is responsible for the preparation and accuracy of financial reports including earnings, profits/losses, cash balances, cost accounting, and related analyses. The Accounting Manager confirms the accuracy of operating and financial reports, advises upper management on effective use of resources and methods for preventing capital from being frozen, interprets accounts and records to upper management, and provides leadership, supervision, training, and mentoring to a mixed team of accounting staff. The position requires independent work on complex tasks, process improvements, and support for budgeting, forecasting, audits, and compliance in a global, software/services-focused organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, data analysis).
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft D365 or similar).
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle/prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication; ability to follow instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred
  • Experience in technology, software services, or SaaS environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform full-cycle general ledger accounting, including preparation and review of complex journal entries (recurring, adjusting, non-recurring, accruals and allocations), ensuring accurate and timely recording in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead monthly account reconciliations and analysis, including balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., bank, AR sub-ledger, AP sub-ledger, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals and intercompany).
  • Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable, and treasury operations, including invoicing, cash application, collections, AR/AP reconciliations and aging, bad debt/billing issues, vendor payments, daily cash reporting and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of operating and financial records; perform detailed troubleshooting of problem accounts, sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliations, and maintain supporting schedules/documentation for audit readiness.
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls (e.g., ERP modules for GL, AR, AP, cash management); identify inefficiencies, recommend/implement improvements for accuracy, automation, and compliance.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain financial statements, trial balances, and reporting templates; serve as primary owner for month-end close processes, including consolidation activities where applicable.
  • Oversee operational accounting tasks as needed, including sales tax returns preparation/filing, corporate tax schedules and deposits, credit card reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting.
  • Assist in annual external audit preparation by compiling schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries on technical accounting matters.
  • Participate in and assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process for assigned locations or departments.
  • Assist in standard cost updates and maintenance where applicable.
  • Complete ad-hoc technical accounting projects, analyses, and process improvements as assigned.
  • Provide direct supervision, motivation, direction, performance review, feedback, and professional development to a mix of professionals.
  • Prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments while ensuring team deliverables meet quality and deadline standards.
  • Foster proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
