About The Position

Kikoff is seeking an Accounting Manager to take end-to-end ownership of operating expenses and general accounting. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of financial data across all non-revenue areas. It's a hands-on position with significant responsibility, involving leading the monthly close, managing a team of two, and developing scalable systems and processes. The ideal candidate will possess a high degree of ownership and sound judgment, collaborating closely with Finance and other business units to guarantee accurate, well-understood, and reliable financial reporting. This role is best suited for an individual who thrives on detailed work while simultaneously building robust, scalable processes. The position reports to the US Controller and is based in San Francisco.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of accounting experience.
  • Experience using AI tools for preparation, reconciliations, research, and documentation, with the judgment to verify before posting.
  • Experience owning the close and general ledger in a multi-entity environment without constant controller review.
  • Experience setting a close calendar and holding FP&A, Tax, and cross-functional partners accountable.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP for accrual, cutoff, and capitalization decisions, and ability to explain them to auditors.
  • Proven ability to identify and rebuild broken accounting processes.
  • Experience taking accounting areas end-to-end through an external audit and working directly with auditors.
  • Ability to keep workpapers and schedules audit-ready year-round.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including explaining variances to non-finance partners and pushing back with data.
  • Comfort with modern finance stack tools: Claude, Codex, Snowflake, NetSuite, Ramp, and Brex.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple close cycles, audits, and process changes concurrently.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including consolidation and financial statement preparation across multiple entities, with intercompany and foreign currency activity in scope.
  • Manage all non-revenue accounting areas: operating expenses, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and equity accounting.
  • Oversee the accounts payable function, and provide lighter-touch oversight of accounts receivable, through the AP/AR Specialist.
  • Perform and review detailed flux and variance analysis, proactively investigating unexpected trends or anomalies in our financials.
  • Partner cross-functionally to gather and validate financial data, and to make sure the numbers are understood by the teams that drive them.
  • Identify and drive improvements to accounting processes, systems, and controls to support scale, reduce risk, and prepare the company for future growth.
  • Lead and develop a team of 2 (a Senior Accountant and an AP/AR Specialist), continuously improving close speed, reliability, and scalability.
  • Lead the end-to-end audit process for non-revenue areas.
  • Partner with external advisors and internal leadership on technical accounting.
