Provides administrative oversight to the Account Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and the general ledger process. Performs and coordinates technical accounting activities to facilitate the effective use of the Authority's financial software modules by finance personnel and other operating departments. Monitors debt service requirements and assists in the preparation of annual budget. Implements and enforces financial controls as necessary to ensure assets are safeguarded and policies are followed. Coordinates reporting of several functions for audited financial statements annually (Capital Improvements, Passenger Facility Charges, etc). Performs directly related work as required. Assists with Authority's Federal, State and local grants for timely reimbursement. The principal function of an employee in this class is to ensure accurate accounting activities in addition to providing general direction within the Finance Department. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, but extensive leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. Supervision is exercised over the work of the Accountant and the Accounting Specialist I, II, and III. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other Authority employees, outside auditors, state and federal officials, and the public. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment.
