The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Accounting Department to include but not limited to managing the accounts payable system, purchasing general ledger, monthly and annual financial statements, governmental and grant reporting. This role provides management to departmental staff, including performance management, hiring/firing recommendations, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. The manager develops and manages action plans to support strategic goals, empowers staff through communication and talent building, and delegates departmental duties while ensuring performance. They also assist with and monitor the departmental budget, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee training for employees and supervisors. The position involves managing daily accounting activities, developing timelines for financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely monthly closes and financial reports, and developing/maintaining accounting processes for the general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing, and grant accounting. Monitoring internal controls, implementing software improvements, and overseeing analyses, reporting, compliance, and special projects are key. The role includes assigning, reviewing, and approving governmental, grant, and regulatory reporting, coordinating the annual financial audit, and providing financial analysis to support decision-making. Additionally, the Accounting Manager oversees purchasing, inventory, supply management, fixed assets, equipment contracts, and service agreements, ensuring compliance with policies and budgetary requirements, and managing vendor relationships. Adherence to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy and the ability to work at any FHCN location are also required.
