About The Position

As the Accounting Manager supporting the Pets Best business, you will lead core accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, leverage cutting-edge tools to analyze large sets of data and have broad cross-functional partnerships across Finance, Operations, Claims, FP&A, and enterprise accounting teams. The Accounting Manager role combines technical accounting expertise, insurance industry knowledge, leadership, and has a focus on continuous improvement, leveraging D365 Finance & Operations to optimize accounting processes, improve reporting capabilities, and drive operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including leadership responsibility.
  • Insurance industry accounting experience, preferably in an MGA or carrier environment.
  • Experience leading month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or a comparable ERP.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience with reinsurance, premium, or claims accounting.
  • Power BI or financial reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations or upgrades.
  • Continuous improvement and process automation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process while ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee reconciliations, journal entries, fixed assets, AP, AR, cash management, and accounting policy compliance.
  • Support premium, claims, commission, reserve, reinsurance, and underwriter reporting activities within an MGA environment.
  • Leverage Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations to improve efficiency, reporting, automation, and financial processes, partnering with IT and business stakeholders to drive enhancements.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, support audits, monitor risks, and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Operations, Actuarial, Underwriting, IT, FP&A, and enterprise finance teams to improve reporting and business performance.
  • Coach and develop accounting professionals while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
