Accounting Manager

Seasats•San Diego, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Seasats is growing quickly, and we're looking for an Accounting Manager to help build the financial infrastructure needed for our next stage of growth. Reporting to the CFO, you'll own core accounting operations while helping strengthen our systems, processes, and controls as we scale, with a growth path toward Controller as the role and the company mature. We're a venture-backed company with hardware manufacturing, software, government contracts, and field operations running around the world, so this role touches a lot of ground. We're looking for someone who can run a strong accounting function and genuinely enjoys getting into the details themselves. You'll own areas like the month-end close, accounting operations, and audit support while helping us mature our ERP and broader finance infrastructure. In your first year, you'll help move Seasats to a scalable finance organization: making the close faster and more reliable, strengthening controls, improving the quality of financial information available to leadership, and helping establish effective manufacturing and government-contract accounting processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience with operating-company accounting, public accounting, and/or fractional or outsourced accounting roles
  • Experience working for, advising, or auditing a company in the defense, aerospace, government contracting, or a closely related industry
  • Experience working in an organization subject to external financial statement audits, with a strong understanding of audit preparation and supporting documentation
  • Experience owning or playing a significant role in month-end close
  • Ability to operate effectively in an environment where processes are still being built and responsibilities can evolve quickly
  • Strong attention to detail combined with the judgment to identify which issues actually matter
  • Ability to work independently, investigate unfamiliar accounting issues, and recommend practical solutions
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with executives and cross-functional teams
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or individual granted asylee or refugee status) due to export control requirements.
