About The Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s daily accounting operations, financial reporting processes, internal controls, and accounting staff activities. This role manages month-end and year-end close functions, supports financial compliance and operational reporting, and partners with leadership to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations within a growing electrical contracting and construction environment. Success in this role is measured by financial accuracy, operational efficiency, compliance, team leadership, process improvement, and the ability to support organizational growth through scalable accounting practices and strong financial oversight.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Strong understanding of general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems proficiency

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience
  • Experience managing accounting operations, month-end close processes, and financial reporting activities required
  • Experience with ERP systems, job cost accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and project financial reporting preferred
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
  • CPA certification preferred but not required
  • Experience supervising or leading accounting staff preferred
  • Construction, contractor, industrial, or project-based accounting experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting operations including general ledger, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and job cost accounting activities
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy and compliance
  • Support preparation of internal financial reports, operational reporting, and executive reporting packages
  • Maintain and strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, and financial procedures
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial planning activities
  • Coordinate audit preparation and support external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable financial regulations
  • Partner with operations, payroll, HR, procurement, and project management teams to support accurate financial reporting and job cost management
  • Oversee accounting system utilization, reporting improvements, and process optimization initiatives
  • Assist leadership with financial analysis, reporting trends, and operational support
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and accounting process improvements
  • Support implementation of financial controls and accounting best practices across the organization
  • Manage and oversee daily workflow activities of accounting staff
  • Provide leadership, training, mentoring, and performance guidance to accounting team members
  • Assist with workload distribution, process oversight, and departmental development
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management activities in partnership with leadership and Human Resources
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the accounting function
