About The Position

This role is for an ambitious Accounting Manager at a premier, multi-discipline industrial fabrication and heavy mechanical services corporation with a 130-year legacy. The company serves critical global markets, defense contractors, and vital government agencies, providing stability and high-value projects. The Accounting Manager will master financial operations, mentor a team, and prepare for the Controller position. This role is designed for growth, offering the opportunity to work closely with leadership, absorb institutional knowledge, and transition into the Controller role. The company has a history of partnering with both commercial and government/defense agencies. The Accounting Manager will own the full accounting lifecycle, drive ERP optimizations, and act as a strategic partner to departmental leaders.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Proven track record of supervising or managing a team
Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Robust experience with enterprise ERP systems
Advanced Excel skills

Responsibilities

Lead the month-end, quarterly, and annual close processes.
Prepare high-level financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and deliver variance analyses to leadership.
Oversee all daily accounting functions, including AP (vendor relations, 1099s), AR (billing, cash application, collections), and Fixed Assets (depreciation, capitalization, and construction-in-progress).
Monitor daily cash activity, oversee bank reconciliations, and support precise cash-flow forecasting and working capital management.
Enhance accounting policies, maintain tight internal controls, and serve as the primary point of contact for external audits and tax filings.
Supervise, mentor, and elevate the accounting staff, establishing clear priorities and a culture of continuous improvement.
