About The Position

The Accounting Manager oversees core accounting operations, including account reconciliations, general ledger management, month-end close activities, accounts payable, and procurement functions. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and timeliness across all accounting processes while supervising staff and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate demonstrates a clear progression of responsibility, increasing complexity in assignments, and strong analytical and leadership capabilities. The position also assists the Director of Finance in managing various high-level accounting, budgeting, costing, and reporting functions, ensuring that job functions are done accurately and in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in performing accounting functions and analysis including general ledger and accounts payable experience.
  • Minimum 2 years demonstrated progression in accounting responsibilities, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls and accounting best practices.
  • Must have good understanding of GAAP and its application to internal accounting practices and procedures, with audit and tax requirements as they relate to non-profits.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision; plan own work schedule effectively and multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with Agency staff and management team, as well as to outside agencies, vendors and patients in a professional, courteous and confidential manner.
  • Proficient in use of office equipment, i.e., calculator, copy machine, telephone and fax machine.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, General Ledger Software and other business systems, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Must regard work as confidential.
  • Must have current driver’s license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis commercial insurance agency.
  • Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
  • Annual Flu immunization, de-escalation training within 90 days of hire.
