This position ensures all financial entries, transactions, and actions comply with generally accepted accounting principles, government audit standards, and other federal/state government regulations. The role involves maintaining daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial records, assisting with monitoring Purchase of Service Contracts, and compiling financial data for the department's annual report. Key responsibilities include preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and preparing various state and governmental reports. The position also plays a role in setting up and maintaining software systems, training staff, and directing billing and collections. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will prepare the department's annual budget, provide input on program planning, and perform personnel activities such as interviewing, hiring, training, and performance evaluations. The role requires recommending objectives, plans, policies, and procedures for efficient management and compliance, as well as developing and reviewing internal controls. Other duties may be assigned as accounting requirements change, and backup duties for another Accounting Manager may be required.
