About The Position

Le Méridien St. Louis Clayton is hiring for an Accounting Manager. This role is for individuals who believe strong financial operations are essential to a successful hotel, that accurate numbers, thoughtful analysis, and attention to detail help drive great business decisions, and that accounting is more than processing transactions—it is about providing the information leaders need to operate confidently. The ideal candidate balances accuracy, accountability, collaboration, and service, understanding that strong communication between Accounting, Operations, department leaders, and ownership keeps the hotel running smoothly, and that protecting the integrity of the hotel's financial information is a responsibility worth taking seriously.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous hotel or hospitality accounting experience required; supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Experience with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial and employee information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Accounting team members, hotel leadership, department leaders, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced hotel environment.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and perform routine office and accounting functions.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the hotel as needed.
  • Ability to review and work with financial records, reports, invoices, receipts, and other documentation for extended periods.
  • Ability to maintain concentration and accuracy while working with detailed financial information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hotel environment while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hotel accounting systems and/or property management systems preferred.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis preferred.
  • Experience with payroll and audit processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the hotel.
  • Reviewing general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitoring accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, credit card activity, and other key accounting functions.
  • Partnering with department leaders to understand financial results, identify trends, and support effective decision-making.
  • Maintaining strong internal controls and ensuring financial policies and procedures are followed.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Identifying discrepancies, investigating variances, and helping solve problems before they become bigger problems.
  • Preparing information and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Working closely with Operations to ensure financial processes support the guest experience rather than getting in its way.
  • Finding opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and make the numbers easier for everyone to understand.
  • Keeping a calm, organized approach when month-end, payroll, audits, and hotel operations all seem to happen at the same time.
